Practice
Improving is the point.
Gain the most out of each roll.
People that are better than you-
Practice your A-game - find the holes in your game and be humbled.
It is good to remember that some people can kick your ass, despite your best efforts.
Mentee - Ask for advice.
They may teach you new tricks, techniques or concepts. All are valuable.
People at your level- work.
Their best situation - Or your worst situation.
As you come up with solutions for bad situations, this is where you will see if your technique is up to snuff.
Struggle - Feel what it is like to test yourself.
Flex your will power and grit.
People you are better than- Allow them to work.
Practice Defense - Let them get you in bad situations with good technique, then practice defense and progression.
This also allows them to work on bettering their finishing techniques.
Mentor - this is your chance to teach others.
When you explain a technique or concept, it forces you to simplify and clarify what you are doing, and explain it understandably.
Sometimes that is teaching a spazzy white belt to be humble.
Every opponent and grappling partner can teach you something.
