Innovate

At this point you have the fundamental skills and the mindset to compete. There will always be someone stronger, or faster, or younger. So how do you limit the plateau.

Evolve strange and new tactics and techniques.

Do it differently- Add new variables that lead to chaos.

  • Apply the skills you have outside of grappling.

    • If you are a mechanic, use your grip strength. If you do yoga, use your flexibility. Use your unique talents!

  • Play and be willing to get in new situations.

    • This openness and willingness to get uncomfortable will allow you to explore positions and situations you would never find yourself in if you had played it safe.

Simplify - Distill your new insights out of the chaos

  • Iterate - find a series or set of movements you like and do them again and again.

    • Each time making slight variations to find the most effective path to progression.

  • Self-reflect - How do you like to roll, and what is your body good at?

    • It is a bad idea to go head to head with a body builder.

By innovating and evolving differently, every place you move becomes a place for you to thrive. Places where opponents that were comfortably dominant are now uncomfortably susceptible and they have no answer for your evolution.
