Smash Equilibrium
Nash equilibrium is a concept in game theory where both players reach a stable state, where neither player can improve their outcome without changing their strategy. This applies to grappling when two grapplers reach stalemate.
Smash Equilibrium is my concept that applies forcing your opponent to change strategy. If the two combatants are stalemated, but your opponent is more uncomfortable than you, they will have to change their strategy first, because they are more uncomfortable.
Be Mean- If they are wincing you are winning
Let them cook.
Pretty much any technique that attacks their posture can be held until they scramble to escape.
Pain is the great motivator.
Some of my favorite techniques for this strategy include, North South smother, knee on belly, frames on their throats.
Feel no Pain- Let them know that their best efforts don’t concern you
Appear to be comfortable.
People will often give up on the attack even if they are attacking correctly.
That doesn’t work on me.
Avoid damage by knowing how to defend dangerous situations.
We have made the smash and the pain another variable. Smash Equilibrium forces vulnerability and adjustment for your opponent, which provides opportunity.
