Should
There is no should, there is only do or don’t do.
Kind of sounds like Yoda, but I have found this to be very helpful in simplifying my life. It has allowed me to take back my most valuable resource, time. I break it down like this, Do I need to do it? Do I want to do it? If both of those answers are no, I probably won’t do it.
This approach is not just focused on the action, it is also about the mindset you adopt.
There is inherent resistance or frustration in should. ‘Shoulders’ have the accurate belief that someone else’s will is dictating my actions. However, If I am doing it because I need to, there is a believed payoff or value to the action, and I am happier to do it.
In addition, If I am doing it because I want to, it is something that brings me joy.
Don’t should all over yourself!
