War has provided a lot of benefit to humanity through our evolution. This deadly competition…

• Provides motivation for research learning and progress. In war time it is weapons and tools of destruction that can then be applied to benefit everyday life.

• Provides culling of weaker social, philosophical and physical elements. The stronger variables survive.

• Also provides a common goal to bring together a diverse population in cooperation.

This is not saying that war is good, we just need to realize that there have been benefits.

Yet in that last hundred years humans have become much less warlike and progress has accelerated. That is because we have found alternatives to war that fill the same niches.

• Sports provides a common goal to bring together a diverse population in cooperation.

• Democracy allows for disagreements to be remedied, without the losers needing to forfeit their lives.

• Capitalism and a free market provide motivation for research, learning, and progress. Capitalism replacing tools of war and destruction with currency that acts as a tool of effort and power.
