Religion

Spirituality is much like pure mathematics (math at such a high level that is doesn’t apply to our observable reality). It can be used to predict unexplainable situations, but it is not observable in nature.

As a specific spirituality grows, a community grows up around it. Rules and structure are enacted that dictate right action within this community. The added structure removes some of the awe from the spirituality and replaces it with a shared delusion. This shared delusion becomes more and more real as the community grows and fundamentally changes the nature of reality. Creating something new, a new paradigm of thought and a new way of interacting with each other and reality.

Well there is a new religion that not many people view as religion. The paper money in your pocket has no inherent value, and is backed by nothing accept the rules and shared delusion of a worldwide community. But fiat currency is certainly changing the nature of reality.

Think about all the religions and reality shifts. Humans have moved from animals only concerned about survival to creatures that defeated the four horseman.
