Indentured servitude

After Slavery was abolished, those in power implemented a form of control that wasn’t called slavery. Indentured servitude was a contract where worker trades their labor in order to pay off debt for a set period of time.

Does this sound familiar. Being stuck, working just to pay off the debt that has accrued. The only difference now is that there is an exchange of money. The money goes to the worker before it has to pay the debts and costs of living.

Look at what the dining service workers and custodians are making, and look at the cost of rent and food. If there is no extra money, this is Indentured servitude.
