Community
Some people find community of friends, then agree upon hobbies to engage in with that group of friends. This often seems to be a more feminine approach. Lets get together, then we will decide what to do. This often results in shopping, group meals, drinking, and watching entertainment.
Other people find hobbies, then find people that will create a community around that activity. This often seems to be a more masculine approach. Do cool shit, and other people that want to join in, will. This often results in skill gathering, athletic ability, exploration and creative endeavors.
This all makes sense from an evolutionary perspective. Women looking for community that takes care of the young. Feeding, and raising, and creating a stable home. Men building skills and loyalties with other men to defend the tribe and family. Exploring and building the home. Then the men competing to show off their skills to attract a mate, the woman watching and comparing to find the most ideal mate.
If you don’t have community of hobbies, you can approach it from either direction. In both cases you end up with fun stuff to do, and fun people to do it with.
