Infinite Game
“You may have won the battle, but you haven’t won the war”
The point of an infinite game is to continue being able to play.
This immediately makes me think of sports, where winning every game is much less important than improving and continuing to compete.
With this in mind every game has positions of attack and defense; dealing with a situation where an opponent is winning or losing.
From a finite game perspective, an opponent that is winning should be attacked, and an opponent that is losing should be punished by defending your dominant position.
From an infinite game perspective, and opponent that is winning should be supported for their strategy, skill, and approach. and when an opponent is losing they should be challenged, to change their approach to this situation.
With the infinite approach your opponents/ teammates improve and grow, pushing you to improve and grow. Making competitions more varied and enjoyable.
