Constraints and Creativity
Without lifting your pencil from the paper, connect these nine circles with four strait lines.
When there is no limit, it is hard to be creative.
Defining constraints gives direction, but those expectations also set forth a challenge to find holes in the assumed rules. Creativity thrives while skirting around restraints.
Imagine all the creative steps that have been made in transforming lightning (electricity) into an information tool that races through your cell phone and computer. There are real constraints on what electricity can do , but if there wasn’t someone that accepted the challenge of trying to harness the control that power, we wouldn’t be where we are today.
In order to think outside the box, there must first be a box. The challenge of constraints lead to creativity.
